First, they only deal in text and the limit of 140 characters is too small. Other services will offer that and more sooner than later and secondly, they aren't ready for the growth hence the downtime issues...

Re: Now what? - Need an idea for a webapp? If you click the "reply" link in the Disqus comments, there's a better chance I'll see the message since it emails me. Let me know next time you're up in the city. It would be great to meet up sometime over coffee or a beer. My email is joe AT joelaz DOT com.

Re: Now what? - Need an idea for a webapp? Anyway, we should meet up some time - I'm planning on being in the city tomorrow, email me if your afternoon's free.

Re: Now what? - Need an idea for a webapp? What type of PM role are you interested in? Are you focused on a particular vertical or certain companies? I can ask around for you.

Re: Now what? - Need an idea for a webapp? (I'm also a believer in what Tony Wright has to about how to do a half-ass startup)

Re: Now what? - Need an idea for a webapp? Does this mean you've decided to pursue your own startup idea instead of finding a PM role at a company? Exciting.

Re: Now what? - It'll be a dark day when we hire somebody with the title "Product Manager"

Shannon - good to hear from you...didn't know that you'd spent time on both sides of the coin. And I agree that "many of the most successful startups have come from people who have an appreciation of the technological possibilities as well as why people might find them to be useful/fun"...now I've got to work on defining what that unique value is :)

Re: Now what? - It'll be a dark day when we hire somebody with the title "Product Manager"

Amen, brother! Clearly, as a product manager, I would seem to be biased. But I've been on both sides of the PM/developer coin, so I can appreciate the techie point of view, too. The thing is, I think many of the most successful startups have come from people who have an appreciation of the technological possibilities as well as why people might find them to be useful/fun/an interesting time-waster.

Re: Now what? - It'll be a dark day when we hire somebody with the title "Product Manager"

Microphone check, one two.
